Strange bedfellows... The answer does lie in what you say. There is a crisis of the Faith and I agree with what you say. We must give God to people. Too many times in my life as a priest I have heard people tell me how tired they were of Father Johnny who dresses up with a chasuble with Charlie Brown. So...this gives rise to a lot of things: sectarian groups abound in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, usually all linked to some "mystical" source. Other groups want to freeze time and feel that a return to before 1962 will solve all these problems [but a lot of the crimes committed are by men from that era !], finally, some groups just become radical like and mix up wicca and a whole heap of things in a world of new paganism a la Thomas Berry ! You are right, my good friend, our people are thirsting for God, like a dry weary land without water. The Church has never faced such a crisis since the renaissance period and before that Francis' period. Would it that you and me, and your brother Bishops and my brother priests truly hear, "Thomas, Michael, Neil...go and rebuild my Church !"
